Jesus – “without Him, how lost I would be…” that song is very true!!
My parents – so much of what I have and who I am is thanks to them!
Friends and family – there are many people in my life that are always there when I need them and who simply brighten my life by being a part of it
Music – it soothes my soul and makes me happy
My health – I am so blessed to be able to get out of bed each morning and do the things that I need to do and want to do without being hindered by sickness or disability
My house – I love our little house and am so thankful to have such a snug little place to come home to and escape from the world. And I love the fact that we have neighbors who look out for us and even a neighbor who mows our lawn for us (I know, we are very spoiled!!).
My car – it is a trusty car with good gas mileage, which is now more appreciated than ever before!! Hopefully I can get several more years out of my faithful Honda.
My job – without that, you could forget the previous two things…haha! But beyond providing for those necessities of life, I am so thankful to work for a good man who cares about his employees and treats us generously!
Technology – not sure where I came from in the very country home that I grew up in, but I am not one for “roughing it”. I am SO thankful for my a/c, indoor plumbing, electricity, dishwasher, washer & dryer, and the list goes on!!
The opportunities in life that I have been given – it is funny to contemplate how each decision can impact so many more later on down the road. I never would have imagined myself living in Mineral Wells, Texas, driving to Fort Worth to work every day in the world of financial services. If you had asked me 10 years ago where I would be now, none of those things would have made the list….and yet, how happy and full those 10 years have been despite the “best laid plans of mice and men”. I am so thankful that God has his own plan for me, and even when I don’t understand it, He has had my best interests at heart at along!
Baby Jesse – even though he isn’t here yet, we are so excited to have a little baby Gerrald on the way! I have always heard that being an aunt is super fun, and I can’t wait to learn it for myself!
Books – seriously, I don’t think I would have made it through the first 16 years of my life without them. A lot of who I am today is influenced by those books that I read all the time, when I always imagined being someone else. I finally learned how to live a life outside of my books, but still enjoy a good escape from time to time!
My sweet kids – I thank God for my sweet CASA kids, who warm my heart and make me smile, and also for my World Vision kids, who also warm my heart and make me appreciate all that I have been given. Their joy in the simple things helps me to remember the innocence of childhood and keep from letting it go.
Holidays- I am thankful for the upcoming holidays (yes, I am thankful for Thanksgiving!) because they are such a fun time when we get a day or two off of work and get to spend it with people we love.
Airplanes - because they take us places that we never would have been able to go without them! And there are so many incredible things to see in the world!
Makeup – because for some reason I have worse acne now than I did as a teenager…someone please explain that one to me!!
And now I am getting silly, so I will wrap this up. Suffice it to say, there are many things to be thankful for, both great and small!
“Unto thee, O God, do we give thanks, unto thee do we give thanks: for that thy name is near thy wondrous works declare.” Psalm 75:1
